Biography

Veda Bonnie “Bon” Cook, age 95, of Monett, MO, she passed away at her home on January 17, 2010, after a brief illness, with her family by her side.

Bon was born on June 21, 1914, near Southwest City, MO, the daughter of the late Fay L. Jones and Nola (Bohanan) Jones. She was a homemaker and loved cooking and caring for her family. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Monett where she was their pianist for fifty-seven years, retiring at the age of ninety-three.

Bon married Ralph Cook on December 2, 1933, in Grove, OK. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1987. Survivors include one son, Lee Cook, of Pierce City, MO; two daughters, Margaret Roller of Purdy, MO, and Ralpha Cook of Monett; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; and one brother Francis Jones, of Denver, IA. Veda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Bon Cook will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the Christ United Methodist Church in Monett with Dr. Dan Evans officiating. Interment will be in the Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Buchanan Funeral Home.
